App User Guide

Welcome to Uncover Everything, the app that brings physical objects to life with augmented reality. Point your camera at supported images and watch hidden content appear.

Before you start: Content must be uploaded to the Uncover Everything portal before it can be scanned. If you point the app at an image and nothing happens, that image may not have been set up yet — contact the creator or business that shared the image with you to confirm it's been activated.

Getting the App

Download "Uncover Everything" from the App Store (iOS). Open it once downloaded — you're ready to go. On first launch the app asks for "camera" access (required for scanning) and "location" access (optional). Some experiences are tied to a physical place — a mural, a gallery, a storefront — and only appear when you're nearby. If you decline location access, regular content still works everywhere; you'll just miss location-specific experiences.

Creating an Account (Optional)

You don't need an account to scan — the app works right away as a guest. Creating an account lets you:

  • Save your scan history across devices

  • Keep your history if you reinstall the app

To create an account:

  1. Tap the profile icon in the top corner of the home screen

  2. Tap Create Account

  3. Enter your email and a password, then tap Create Account

  4. You can also use the Sign in with Google button instead

To sign in to an existing account, tap Sign In instead of Create Account. Your guest scan history carries over when you create an account.

Scanning

  1. Open the app — you'll land on the home screen

  2. Tap the scan button to open the scanner

  3. Point your camera at the image, poster, artwork, or object you want to scan

  4. Hold steady — the app detects the image within a few seconds

  5. The augmented reality content appears on screen, anchored to the image

Tips for a better scan:

  • Make sure the image is well-lit — use the in-app flash button in dim spaces

  • Hold your phone steady and fill the frame with the image

  • Avoid extreme angles — face the image directly

  • If nothing appears after a few seconds, move slightly closer or adjust the angle

While viewing content: point away and the content pauses; point back and it resumes. Tap a video to watch it fullscreen — swipe down to exit.

Location-Based Experiences

Some content only works at a specific place. If a creator has tied an experience to a location, you need to be within their chosen distance of that spot for the app to detect the image. Make sure location access is allowed if you're visiting a location-based experience.

Scan History

Your recent scans appear on the home screen under History.

  • Signed in: your history is tied to your account and survives reinstalls and device switches

  • Guest: history is saved under your device's guest profile; creating an account preserves it

Signing Out

  1. Tap the profile icon on the home screen

  2. Tap Sign Out

You'll continue as a guest and can still scan normally.
